Why the Future of Wireless Needs Intelligent Integration

After Peregrine Semiconductor announced the next chapter in intelligent integration, Wireless Design & Development editors asked Peregrine to contribute a blog post on intelligent integration. Technical marketing manager Andrew Christie, who recently spoke on intelligent integration at European Microwave Week, wrote an informative post titled, “Why the Future of Wireless Needs Intelligent Integration.” The article begins by explaining the need for integration in future wireless systems such as 5G, IoT and self-driving cars and quickly notes that multi-chip modules (MCMs) are not the answer. Christie says that “intelligent integration is not integration for its own sake; it is deliberately focused on providing greater system capability and operational flexibility.” He concludes by stating that intelligent integration is only possible with SOI and CMOS.
